Sestriere
The best weekend base, high and snow sure with quick Turin access.
Sestriere tops the list because it nails the weekend brief: it is one of the highest resorts in the Alps, so snow is reliable, and it sits barely an hour and a half from Turin airport. It anchors the big Via Lattea, or Milky Way, area, which gives a short trip plenty of mileage across the Italian and French border.
The purpose built village is functional rather than charming, which is the only real knock against it. But for the combination of reliable snow, fast access and a large ski area on one pass, it is the clear pick for a weekend.
