Solden
The biggest and liveliest resort in the Otztal, with glacier snow, real variety and a buzzing town.
Solden is the obvious first choice for most groups. It climbs onto two glaciers and spreads a genuinely varied ski area across two main sectors at Giggijoch and Gaislachkogl, with high cruising, a famous Bond inspired mountain restaurant and terrain that keeps confident intermediates busy all week. The town is lively, with strong apres ski and plenty of beds.
Innsbruck is about an hour and twenty minutes away, the shortest transfer of the four, and the town sits at the valley floor so you avoid the steepest final climb. Choose Solden if you want the most complete Otztal trip, with snow sure skiing and a town that comes alive at night. Nervous first timers will find it high and fast, so look higher up this valley for calm.
