Alpe d'Huez
Huge sunny beginner zones, free nursery lifts and the most for kids off the snow.
Alpe d'Huez wins for most families because the beginner offer is enormous and effectively free at the entry level, with a clutch of free nursery lifts on the big sunny snowfront. Ski schools are plentiful, childcare options are the deepest in the area, and the town has a pool, an ice rink and enough restaurants that nobody argues about dinner.
It beats the villages on facilities and flexibility: with three children at three levels, everyone has the right slope and the right lesson within ten minutes of the apartment. The tradeoff is a big resort feel and more traffic than the satellites.
