Cortina d'Ampezzo
Italy's most complete luxury resort, and never more so than for the 2026 Olympics.
Cortina is the queen of the Dolomites and the deepest luxury base in Italy, with grand hotels, a serious spa scene, the best shopping on Corso Italia and rifugio lunches that turn a ski day into an event. The 2026 Winter Olympics have sharpened the hotels and the transfers, and the rose gold peaks at sunset remain the finest backdrop in the Alps.
It beats Courmayeur for the top spot on sheer choice, more five star beds, more restaurants, more to do for a non skiing partner, and a town with real social life. The skiing is sunny and intermediate rather than extreme, so committed experts should temper expectations, but for a glamorous, dining led week nothing in Italy matches it.
