Best for a day, a weekend, a full week
For a day trip, Mont Orford is the skier's pick, with the most interesting terrain within 90 minutes and lift lines that stay sane outside holidays. Bromont owns the evening: leave work, ski under lights until late, sleep in your own bed.
For a weekend, the choice is character or snow. Tremblant gives you the full village weekend, restaurants, spas and reliable grooming, and it earns its crowds. Snow chasers should watch the forecast and run for Jay Peak instead: its glades after a storm are the best powder skiing in eastern North America, at prices that undercut the famous names.
For a full week, think in pairs. Spend half at Tremblant for comfort, then drive northeast and split the rest between Mont Sainte Anne and Le Massif, staying in or near Quebec City, with Stoneham as the night skiing wildcard. Drives and the practical bits
Everything here is a straightforward highway drive, with the usual winter caveats: storms arrive fast, the final approach roads get snowy exactly when the skiing gets good, and Friday evening traffic out of the city adds real time in both directions. For Jay Peak, carry passports for everyone in the car and allow for the border crossing in both directions.
Quebec lift tickets remain better value than comparable US resorts, and midweek and night tickets are cheaper again. Book Tremblant lodging well ahead for Christmas, spring break and February weekends; the village sells out before the snow report is even written. Lessons in both French and English are standard at all the major hills.
