Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole is the best resort in the region because it combines the most demanding lift served terrain in the lower 48, from Corbet's Couloir to endless steep chutes, with big vertical, dry Teton powder and the lively town of Jackson nearby. It edges out Big Sky on terrain seriousness and the strength of the base town.
The famous aerial tram opens steep alpine terrain, and there is plenty of intermediate cruising too, but riders should know the traverses out to the best lines and the flat run outs at the base. It rewards confident snowboarders who can hold a line.
For: Strong skiers and riders who want serious terrain and a real western town.
Skip if: You are a nervous beginner, this is a humbling mountain to learn on.
