Salen
Sweden's best place to learn, a cluster of linked family villages with vast gentle nursery terrain, almost all of it ski in ski out.
Salen is the clear number one. It is not one resort but four linked areas, Lindvallen, Tandadalen, Hundfjallet and Stoten, and together they hold one of the largest spreads of gentle, well groomed beginner terrain in the Nordics. Nursery slopes sit right at the base of the lodges, ski schools run in clear English, and the whole place is built for children and first timers rather than experts.
It takes top spot because nothing else in Sweden combines this much easy terrain with this much family infrastructure. The skiing is low and gentle rather than dramatic, but for a first week that is exactly the point, and you can progress from the magic carpet to long, confidence building greens without ever feeling rushed.
