Les 4 Vallees

Les 4 Vallees is the largest linked ski area in Switzerland, around 400 km of pistes spread across Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon, crowned by the Mont Fort glacier above 3,300 m. It is the right choice for strong intermediates and experts who want big mileage and some of the best lift served off piste in the Alps, with Verbier as the glamorous headline base. Beginners and budget minded families are better served lower in the valley at Nendaz, Veysonnaz or La Tzoumaz, where the same pass costs far less.

What it is

One pass, four valleys, one big arena

Les 4 Vallees stitches together the Swiss Valais resorts of Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon, with Bruson and La Tzoumaz hanging off the edges, all on a single lift ticket. The terrain climbs from wooded village runs to the bare, wind scoured shoulders of Mont Fort, which is why the area mixes cruisy intermediate mileage with genuinely serious high mountain skiing.

Because the network is large and spread out, your choice of base really matters here, more than in a tight resort like the Espace Killy. Verbier sits closest to the headline terrain and the nightlife, while the Printse valley villages of Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon offer the same skiing in a calmer, cheaper package.

Who it suits

Is Les 4 Vallees right for you?

This is a region for keen intermediates, experts and mixed groups who put terrain and off piste first. Strong skiers get the Tortin bowls, the Mont Fort glacier and a wealth of lift served powder that few areas in the Alps can match. Intermediates have long, varied reds linking the valleys, and they should not underestimate the distances involved.

It suits you less if you want a compact, easy network or a chocolate box village square, where a tighter resort serves you better. For more contained skiing nearby, compare the wider Valais and the linked Portes du Soleil, or read our full Switzerland guide.

Pass and logistics

Getting there and getting around

Geneva is the main gateway, roughly two to two and a half hours by road to Verbier or Nendaz. A full Les 4 Vallees adult day pass runs around $75, with multi day passes far better value and cheaper sector passes available if you do not need the whole area. The train to Le Chable with the gondola up to Verbier is a clean, car free way in.

Les 4 Vallees FAQs

What is Les 4 Vallees?

Les 4 Vallees is the largest linked ski area in Switzerland, around 400 km of pistes shared by Verbier, Nendaz, Veysonnaz, Thyon and several smaller villages under one lift pass. Its high point is the Mont Fort glacier at over 3,300 m, which keeps the upper slopes reliable deep into spring.

Which village should I stay in?

Stay in Verbier for the best dining, nightlife and quick access to the famous off piste, and choose Nendaz or La Tzoumaz for the same skiing at a much lower price. Veysonnaz and Thyon suit families who want quiet, sunny and well priced bases on the edge of the network.

Is Les 4 Vallees good for beginners?

It is workable but not ideal. The nursery areas in Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Thyon are gentle and good value, yet the links between sectors involve long red runs that can intimidate true first timers. Confident beginners and improving intermediates get far more from the area than nervous starters.

How snow sure is Les 4 Vallees?

Reasonably snow sure at altitude. The top of the area sits above 3,000 m on Mont Fort, so the high pistes hold cover well, but the lower links toward Verbier village and Bruson can thin out in a poor season. Late January to mid March is the safest window.

What does a Les 4 Vallees lift pass cost?

A full area adult day pass runs around $75, with multi day and six day passes much better value per day. Cheaper sector passes cover just Nendaz, Veysonnaz or Thyon if you do not need the whole network. We build the right pass into your trip when we price it.

How do I get to Les 4 Vallees?

Geneva is the usual gateway, roughly two to two and a half hours by road to Verbier or Nendaz. Sion is much closer for those flying privately, and the train to Le Chable plus the Verbier gondola is a clean rail option. We match the right airport and transfer when we price the trip.
