Arosa
A high, gentle, sunny bowl built for first weeks, with Lenzerheide attached for week two.
Arosa is the best beginner resort in Graubunden because its whole geography works for learners: a high, open bowl around 1,800 m where the slopes are wide, sunny and forgiving, and the village wraps around the snow rather than sitting below it. The ski school culture is long established and the link to Lenzerheide adds a large area to grow into.
It beats Laax for the top spot on calm and character, the car discouraged village and the lake at its heart make it feel like a winter retreat rather than a machine. Skip it if you need nightlife, evenings here are spas, sleds and dinner.
