Arosa
A car free, sunny resort at the end of a scenic valley, with gentle groomed slopes and a calm, contained village built around children.
Arosa is the clear number one. It sits at the head of a beautiful valley reached by a scenic mountain railway, with a largely car free, contained village that makes it unusually safe and calm with children. The slopes are sunny, gentle and immaculately groomed, the ski school is excellent and geared to families, and there are dedicated children's areas, sledging and other snow activities for non skiing afternoons. The link to Lenzerheide adds plenty of room to progress.
It takes top spot because it pairs the most reassuring, contained family village in the canton with genuinely good gentle terrain and reliable, sunny snow. It is not cheap and it is more relaxed than challenging for strong skiers, but for a calm, secure, child friendly week it is the standout.
