Niseko
The best beginner resort in Japan, with gentle terrain, soft snow and English ski schools.
Niseko United spreads gentle, wide groomers across its lower mountain, served by the country's most established international ski schools where English lessons are easy to book. The famously light, deep snow is soft to fall in, which takes much of the fear out of a first week.
It beats the rest on the combination of teaching, terrain and infrastructure, with restaurants and lodging geared to international visitors. The only catch is the price, which has climbed to Alpine levels, but for a guaranteed, low stress first trip nothing in Japan does it better.
